Terrence Higgins Trust

We are the largest voluntary sector provider of HIV and sexual health services in the UK, running services out of local centres across Great Britain. The range and availability of services provided at any one centre depends on the needs of the community we serve and the requirements of our funders (usually local authorities and NHS organisations, sometimes voluntary funders). Our local services fall into three areas: long term condition management; health improvement and clinical services.

Long Term Condition Management

We have nearly thirty years of experience of working with and advocating on behalf of people with HIV. Supporting people with HIV to live healthily and well with their condition remains central to our work.
We offer advice on benefits, housing and employment for people with HIV who need help in getting their legal entitlements. Our advice is accredited by Community Legal Services and is available over the phone via the THT Direct helpline or on the web, or face-to-face in some centres.

Call us

Our standard opening hours are 10am and 8pm from Monday to Friday.
call 0808 802 1221 Our number is free to call from all UK landlines and most UK mobiles and will not appear on your telephone bill.
Some calls may be listened into or recorded for training purposes.

What happens when I call?

When you ring you’ll hear a menu system.
This will give you options to:
listen to recorded information
leave a message to be called back in another language
hold the line if you’d like to speak an adviser.
If you're calling from a call box or from your mobile we can always call you straight back if you don’t have much money.
Our number won't appear on any itemised bill.

How we work

If your enquiry is complicated then one of our advisers might call you back when they have researched how we can help, or we might refer you to someone else in the organisation.
We’ll tell you when we are going to call you back and check whether we can say who we are when we call.
As well as providing help over the phone we can also send out information (in a plain envelope) for you to read at home.

To end the transmission of HIV in the UK.
To empower and support people living with HIV to lead healthy lives.
To amplify the voices of those affected by HIV across public and political arenas to eradicate stigma and discrimination.
To enable people to enjoy good sexual health.
